Space limitation can no more hold you back from growing vegetables and flowering plants.It’s always great idea to have a kitchen garden for your home but if you have limited space for it, you do not have to leave the plan completely but you can go for a container garden.Container garden requires little more effort than the preparation of in-the ground-garden just pick up some plastic, fibre or mud pots or even plastic bags and fill it with the potting mixture condusive for the plant that you are planning to grow. The most significant advantage of making a container garden is that  it saves a lot of space in comparison.

Container Garden Preparation

When you choose the pots, you need to take the size of the plant into consideration. The pot should have a proper drainage system as well.Mud pots will require minimum number of holes where as ceramic pots and plastic pots will need large number of holes to drain the excess water. There is no problem of taking plastic bags and sacks for creating a container garden.Fancy shaped containers will give a decorative look to the garden.Secondly the gardener must find an appropriate location to place the pots.As sun light will be required for vegetable crops and flowering plants the arrangement should be made in such a way.

Potting Mixture

The potting mixture required for filling in the pots can be either prepared at home or you can get it from the nursery.House hold compost or a mixture of soil, sand and fertilizer can be used as potting mixture. It is required that the mixture shall be chosen in accordance with the kind of plant you are growing. The best thing you can do to keep the drainage system in place, you can add some brick pieces in the pot when filling the mixture.Besides, light colored pots will be fitting in hot climate as it will prevent heat absorption.

Plants To Be Grown

Mainly vegetable and flowering plants are grown in container garden.Vegetables like spinach, radish, carrot, garlic, onion, cucumber, broccoli and tomato can be used for container gardens. Pepper can also be chose in container gardens. While vegetable cultivation in containers will enable you collect fresh and organic vegetables for your use, the growing of flowering plants will refresh your mind. It will make the mind pleasant and pep up the days.

Nourishment

Unlike in-the ground gardens, container garden requires more care. In order to make a good healthy container garden, you must use fertilizers and pesticides and weeding out in time.Watering also is important for plants in pots.Low and high water content are harmful for the plants and it is better to water at regular intervals than to pour more water to the pot.
