Tips before you buy your Garden Storage Shed
It's time to clean out and organize my garage that I have been using as a storage. I need a small garden storage shed so that I can store my gardening equipment, lawn mower, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrow and so on. I am searching for an 8'x8' or 8'x10' garden shed.
I went looking at home improvement stores, and seen some metal storages, they were not to expensive and would have done the job. Well I didn't purchase a metal kit, there was a wood shed display that got my attention. These wood garden sheds were more expensive, but the appearance was allot nicer than the metal sheds.
After looking at these displays I figured I could buy lumber and build it myself. It didn't look hard, the construction is very basic.
I began searching for information on the web to build an outdoor shed. I found the size and type of shed I wanted, and bought some plans. I found a site with a list of plans that were free and some you could buy, go here for more information on shed plans.
I studied the plans, bought the material and built a beautiful shed. It really was quit simple and I enjoyed it. Anyway here are some of my tips that might help.
Begin by contacting or visiting your local zoning department to see what they allow or require.
Choose your location carefully. It will be difficult to move once you have built it.
Determine if you will have the time, skills, tools, and patience. If you feel you don't have the carpentry skills, consider a shed kit. I have seen some wood storage shed kits that look very attractive.
It is a good idea to know what you will be putting inside to determine the size. It is always a good idea to build or buy a little bigger.
Do some research to get the best looking garden shed at a good price. I did research and studied plans on the Internet. At first I was going to buy a metal shed because they are affordable. After studying and researching, I built my own and am very happy with the results.
