There is no difference in using a residential pest control services company to using a commercial one. The only difference there is that this is how they choose to do business by splitting up the categories in the market to cover. However, if you have called the residential pest control services and they tell you that you have a problem larger than they can handle, they will be calling in the advanced services for pest control on your behalf for a quotation to see to the problem.

Thoughts Spiral Out Of Control

Since you got told that the residential pest control services cannot help you, your mind would quickly run amuck. The thoughts in your mind, are things like do you need to condemn your place, will they be creating a holocaust to kill whatever shouldn’t be living in your home, is your home going to be radio active with a big yellow sticker on your front door saying “no entry, caution, radio active home!’, or are they going to launch another H bomb like in Hiroshima to get rid of those critters invading your space?

Yes, you may have to leave your premises for a few days, since the residential pest control services called in for bigger help with the situation. Did the residential pest control services gain financially from bringing in the big boys in to handle the problem, and if so, do the residential pest control services make provision for you to live elsewhere while your home is being treated or repaired? These are all valid and pertinent questions to ask your residential pest control services company before you just go ahead with whatever they say you must do. If not, why? They are gaining from you by not doing anything, whereas they could have just given you the number of someone or a company that could deal with the problem they couldn’t handle.

Checking Your Home Owners Insurance For Coverage

By having your home invaded by pests is not a good thing, sometimes your insurance could cover the damage caused, but they may also reject your request for payment as they could have put a clause in place in the insurance contract. However if this problem has occurred later after transferal you may be told you would have to maintain the property properly and regularly to avoid such recurrence, but insurance for this is usually not included but available for an additional fee on your current home owners insurance.

Methods of Carpet Cleaning Services

You have a stain, now what do you do with it?  You have scrubbed it with everything under the sun and still the stubborn stain is still staring you right in the eye.  It’s time to get down and dirty with that Mr. Stain and call in the professionals.  Now you know you need to call someone but what types of carpet cleaning services are out there?  Which one is right for you and your Mr. Stain?  There are many types of carpet cleaning services out there so lets take a deeper look as to what your choices are.

Shampooing

There are carpet cleaning services that offer shampooing.  This is where they apply some type of chemical detergent solution and then “scrubbed in” with a carpet-cleaning machine.  They solution is then extracted from the carpet leaving your carpet looking and smelling fresher than before. These types of carpet cleaning services are good for quick fixes but the stains tend to come back after the detergents effects expire.  You may want to check what chemicals they are using and how harmful constant use would be to your carpet.  You want to keep the life of your carpet for as long as you can without breaking down the fibers from excessive chemicals or cleaning.

Another form of carpet cleaning services is dry cleaning.  This is a favored method, as you do not have to wait for the carpet to dry.  Carpet cleaning services apply a layer of powder with special cleaning agents that attract the dirt. This powder must be worked into the carpet and then thoroughly vacuumed up. There is also the foam carpet cleaning which is similar to the dry carpet cleaning method.  This method uses a very small amount of water and foam and is also worked into the carpet.  Once the foam has dried it must be vacuumed away as the dry cleaning method.

The type of carpet cleaning service that is most used in commercial places is the bonnet cleaning method. This type of carpet cleaning service works best on industrial carpeting so this is not commonly seen in residential homes.  Perhaps the most common used carpet cleaning service is the steam cleaning method.   This method utilizes hot water to clean the carpet in combination with detergent, then it extracts the water, dirt and detergent back out of the carpet with intense suction.  Choosing the right service is simple just know what and how big your stain is, this makes the choice very simple.

Streak Free Window Cleaning Tips

Ahh, spring time is here, well okay, I guess living in San Diego it seems like it is always beautiful spring time weather.  What can I say?

Being the owner of a San Diego window cleaning company has it advantages.  But don't think that just because the weather is perfect that it is impossible to have dirty windows.

As a matter of fact, because of the beautiful weather, being San Diegans, we take it for granted and assume our windows can't ever get dirty.  Not so.

Now before we begin, let's get one thing straight.  The window cleaning tips I give you are not just for Southern Californians.  No, these tips can be used and applied no matter where you find yourself here on earth.

Are you ready?  Let's get started.

So let's address the overarching problem when cleaning windows.  And that problem is those ugly streaks.  Let's say you woke up and felt great.  So great you wanted to take on the world.  So what is it you decide to take on?  Your windows.

But let's slow down for a second there my friend.  Before you begin your attack on those dirty windows, and I'm not implying that you can't.  Let's figure out what needs to be done first.  You'll see it won't be that difficult.

Ready to get started?  Here it is, nice and neat.

Now right off the bat, the first thing you will want and need is the right tools for the job.  This isn't going to be a quick spray and wipedown of your family room glass table.  No, this will be glass that has months of dirt piled on, from the weather all the way to insects and birds making it dirty.

So what will be the tools that will be needed for the job.  Well it certainly won't be windex and some paper towels.  It won't be much more complicated than that.  The tools you will need is a squeegee and a spray bottle and then you can use the paper towels.

Gather these simple tools.  Use them the right way, and watch your day of window cleaning go as smooth as possible.

So what now?  You are going to need the right ingredient for that spray bottle.  And what is this top secret ingredient?  Well it is 2 parts.  It is 2 gallons of water, and here comes the secret sauce, a teaspoon of dish washing liquid.  That's it?  That's all you'll need.  You get that straight, and beautiful streak free windows are yours.

One final thing I forgot to mention, and don't hate me for this.  You are going to have to add a lot of elbow grease.

So even though you started the day rarin' to go and ready to knock out all those windows, by the third or fourth window, you might start to run a little low on that elbow grease.

Well when you do, don't forget where you got the advice.  Your wonderful local San Diego window washing company, who won't mind adding some elbow grease.

Till next time, happy cleaning.

Carpet cleaning will always be in high demand as long as people continue to use carpeting in their home. Commercial carpet cleaning is a great business to get into. You may not think so, but think of how many people wish to have clean carpeting. Commercial carpet cleaning is always sought out by people who wish to improve the look for their home. Unsightly stains and constant traffic can make even the most well decorated home look shabby and unkempt. For this reason, people will always seek the held up a commercial carpet cleaning business.

Always In Constant Demand

There are others who always seek out the services of a commercial carpet cleaning business. For instance, apartment complexes always need the services of a good commercial carpet cleaning business. Whenever they need to turn an apartment over from one tenant to the next, they will need to have the carpet cleaned. You have to consider that most apartment complexes have over a hundred apartments. That’s continuous business all year long. Most apartment complexes have contracts with commercial carpet cleaning businesses that keep them in business constantly.

Your schedule can quickly fill up with a commercial carpet cleaning business. When people have important company over, they want a clean carpet. They’re going to seek you out for your services. But you have to advertise correctly. Offer the best rates and people will go to your first. However, make sure your equipment is up to date or you could quickly lose your business to the competition. There’s nothing worse than paying for a commercial carpet cleaning only to find out that they did a shabby job. Do the best job you can and you’ll have constant business that can quickly add up to be one lucrative venture.

So, start your own commercial cleaning business and see how your bank account quickly fills up with money from people who desperately want to improve the look of their home or apartment with a great carpet cleaning. A clean carpet can make a huge difference not only on one’s attitude but it looks great whenever company comes over. The carpeting, believe it or not, really does make the home. So, if you want a business that will keep your schedule full and your pockets even fuller, then you should definitely consider going into the commercial carpet cleaning business.

To keep your rugs looking clean and fresh there are a few carpet cleaning tips you can use to insure a long life. Stain cleaners and odor eliminators may have a specific use, and if used incorrectly can actually damage your carpets.

One of the best carpet cleaning tips is to thoroughly vacuum your rugs on a weekly basis. To do this effectively, a high-power vacuum cleaner needs to be passed slowly over the entire carpet. No matter how strong a suction that is provided, passing it too quickly will not pick up all the dirt.

Divide the carpet into fourths, cleaning one section at a time before moving to the next section, operating the vacuum both ways until cleaned. These carpet cleaning tips will remove practically all the dirt, which can cause damage to the fibers of the carpet.

Stain removal is another situation where good carpet cleaning tips can come in handy. Many people make the mistake of using a soap-based cleaner and too much liquid on stains. This actually may allow the stain to return or create new ones. Soap-based cleaners, once dry, will still offer a degree of cleaning, this time to shoes and other products with which it comes into contact.

Some Carpet Cleaners Help Stain Re-emerge

The soap will remove dirt from the shoes, leaving it on the carpet. Liquid cleaners, used in excess, will allow the stain to soak into the bottom of the carpet or even into the pad underneath. The stain may appear to be gone, but the liquid will be soaked up from underneath and will probably make the stain reappear. Carpet Cleaning Tips rely on cleaning the carpet and not trying to clean it from underneath.

Liquid spills should be blotted with a towel immediately. Otherwise, they could be soaked into the bottom of the rug. Pet urine can be especially damaging to carpets as it can cause the color dyes to be removed, leaving a bleached-out spot. A solution of one teaspoon of mild detergent and one teaspoon of white vinegar mixed with a quarter of water can help eliminate the stain.

Most carpet cleaning tips involve not rubbing the stain, which can spread the spot and make it bigger, rather blot the stain. By using a clean towel, place it over the spot and either stand on it for a few seconds or place a heavy object on it to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. I'll be up front about it: electronic pest control devices do not work as advertised. Any and all electronic pest control reviews I've read have come to the same conclusion. There are a myriad of reasons why this is true, but basically it comes down to the same thing, sound is not a weapon.

Pests are if anything adaptable. Those electronic pest control devices that advertise they use sound don't take that into account. Pests can get used to sounds so they will come right back. Further, the electromagnetic versions operate on the same false premise. These vibrations sound or electric do not offer enough disruption to cause any real deterrence.

What Should You Do

If you want an electronic pest control device that works, get a bug zapper. These have been around for many years and are very effective against flying insects such as moths and mosquitoes. The creepy crawlies and the vermin are another story. No sound or electromagnetic wave will keep them from creeping into your house. Instead of using some electronic pest control device there are a few things you can do to keep unwanted pests at bay.

Keep your house clean and in good repair. This will make sure there is no easy way in and no readily available food source there for the pests. If the pests can't eat and drink, they are less likely to hang around. A little common sense goes a long way.

Also, make sure cracks and crevices are properly sealed off. A physical barrier is better than any barrier put out by an electronic pest control device. It always pays to have a good caulking gun handy when you need it.

If you need something organic consider traps and lures that use natural ingredients to combat pests. Sticky tape is a good deterrent to bugs. It traps them and they are easily disposed.

Instead of wasting your hard earned money on electronic pest control devices that don't work do you your homework. Make sure you know what you are dealing with and don't be afraid to consult a professional. It is always best to be safe rather than sorry. If you have to shell out money do it with an eye toward effectiveness.

I know it is tempting to try these electronic pest control devices, but don’t. You'll be glad you didn't because you'll save money in the long run and headaches as well dealing with a problem that just won't go away.

Your little one just finished his bowl of spaghetti, now it’s time to clean up the mess that he left behind.  How do you know what carpet cleaning equipment to use? With so many choices of carpet cleaning equipment, one might get stuck in the muck of choosing the right tool for the job.  A rule of thumb in choosing the tool for attack is to know your stain.  You need to know what the stain is and how big it is.  The smaller the stain, the smaller the equipment you will need.

Home Remedies For Small Stains

For really small stains, home remedies should do just fine.  There are also some of the home steam cleaners that have small attachments that will clean small spots in a jiffy.
Another big factor in choosing the right carpet cleaning equipment is how old the stain is.  The older the stain, the tougher the job will be.  At the first spill, you will want to blot out as much as you can to soak up the spill then treat it with some type of solution so the stain will not set in.  Try to take care and not scrub right away as this will break down the fibers in the carpet.  Next you will want to decide which carpet cleaner is right for the job.

Some home remedy solutions in and carpet cleaning equipment that you may want to keep on hand for those smaller jobs may include: hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol as well as store bought carpet cleaning solutions.  You will want to make sure you have plenty of paper towels on hand and a spray bottle of some sort, this makes the application of water or chemicals distribute more evenly.  Carpet cleaning equipment can range from paper towels to high tech commercial machines; so make sure you know your stain so you can make the right choice.

Finding the right carpet-cleaning equipment does not have to be a scary ordeal.  Remember that it is just a stain and that there is a tool out there that will take away even the toughest stain. You just have to remember a few simple things: know your stain, know the stains age, and how big the stain is.  Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to choose the right carpet-cleaning equipment to take care of even the most stubborn of stains.

How to Maintain Your Granite Countertops

Normal 0

Many homeowners that have made an effort to invest in their homes have increased the value by adding wise features such as granite bathroom tops. These counters last much longer than other materials, and give a pristine and clean feeling to a bathroom. Besides investing in the cost of these granite bathroom tops, the number one thing that homeowners are concerned about is the care and maintenance of real granite. Granite bathroom tops are made of natural stone with a polished finish, and require a certain amount of care. There are a few pointers that have been passed down through owners of granite bathroom tops, and even through the manufacturers that will give you advice when it comes to preserving your own.

One issue that is commonly addressed is whether or not to use regular commercial chemical cleaning products on your natural granite bathroom tops on a daily basis. The answer is don’t use commercial chemical cleaning products on your granite bathroom tops; it could dull the countertop polish. If you are noticing a cloudy or stained appearance in your granite bathroom tops, you most likely are looking at the effects of using one of these harmful and strong chemical cleaners. Not to fear, a lot of the time these stains and cloudy spots can be buffed away with a specialized granite repair kit. Some granite bathroom tops even come with a maintenance warranty and are covered for a certain amount of time. No matter what type of finish you have on your granite bathroom tops, don’t spill harsh cleaners, nail polish remover, acetone, paint thinner, or any chemicals of this nature on. Such chemicals are used to remove stains from the granite tops by granite professional and if you want to clean any stain from your counter, be careful not to damage the top luster. It is easy to strip the seal on the granite bathroom tops. Some stains become too deep and too large to be completely fixed, but for most cases, you can get them resealed.

When dealing with spills, attempt to get to the area as quickly as possible. The longer you wait to take care of this potential granite catastrophe, the more likely it is to be a permanent issue. Never rub at the spill; wipe out the spill immediately to soak up any excess moisture. Items of high acid/abrasive content such as alcohol, citrus, perfumes and so forth are the worst kind to deal with, so make sure you use care when placing them on or near your granite bathroom tops. In general, if it states on your cleaning product that it is not to be used on marble or granite, do not use it on marble or granite.

It is recommended to apply sealer to the granite tops once a year. It is easy to do, just apply the sealer, wait 5 minutes and wipe the remaining seal out. You can buy the sealer at hardware stores.

Anyone who has carpeting in their home, at one time or another, wants it cleaned. Especially people who have pets or kids, stained carpeting is almost inevitable. That’s why a carpet cleaning business will always have a steady stream of customers. However, there’s so much competition in the carpet cleaning industry that, unless you have a lot of people waiting for you to open your doors, chances are, people are going to go with a name they know instead of your recently opened carpet cleaning business. For this reason, it’s a better idea to get in on an already established carpet cleaning franchise.

The Franchise Is Already Established

A carpet cleaning franchise is already established, which means that they likely already have a loyal fan base. If you open a carpet cleaning franchise in a new town, people will have already heard of the name of your new carpet cleaning business. Especially if the carpet cleaning franchise is national, there should already be plenty of advertising that’s already done for you. There’s no need to market yourself, the franchise heads have already done all the work for you.

To get started with a carpet cleaning franchise, ask the franchise that you’d like to be a part of the number to their corporate office. They will likely tell you all you need to know to jump on board to open your own carpet cleaning franchise. They will probably already have a list of customers for you, too, since you’ll probably be opening one of their franchises in a new town where there wasn’t one before.

Carpet cleaning will always be in demand as long as people have carpeting in their homes. Not only that, but there are many apartment complexes who require a carpet cleaning franchise to help them get apartments ready for new move ins. The customers are out there and they’re just waiting for you to open your doors. So, start asking questions today on how you can jump on the carpet cleaning bandwagon and open your own carpet cleaning franchise.

The cost may be high but it’s worth it when you consider that you’ll be helping so many people out to make their carpet look great. A clean carpet does wonders for the look of a home and there’s no better feeling than knowing that people need you to make their home look as good as it can.

During the spring and summer pests such as ants, cockroaches and mosquitoes can easily become a real nuisance. Most of us react to this inconvenience by stocking up on pesticides and using them to do battle. Unfortunately the chemicals in insecticides can be quite dangerous, especially if they absorbed onto the skin while they are still wet. Insecticides are particularly hazardous to small children, old folks and pets. Therefore if you happen to have children and pets or if you care for your elderly parents then you should probably avoid using chemical pesticides if at all possible. Fortunately there are a number of viable options when it comes to natural pest control.

Meddlesome Mosquitoes

You can control the number of mosquitoes and other bugs and flying insects in your yard with natural garden pest control.  The first thing you should do is remove any standing water. Furthermore plants such as lemon grass and marigolds are good for repelling mosquitoes because they hate the smell. If you want natural pest control to stop mosquitoes from biting at your skin try squeezing natural lemon juice on yourself since this is another odor they dislike. People who spend a lot of time outdoors during the summer month also claim that Avon Skin-So-Soft combined with rubbing alcohol is off-putting to mosquitoes. Other natural pest controls for mosquitoes include citronella and garlic. Burning sage or rosemary around your property helps too.

Awful Ants

There is something inexplicably disturbing about seeing a trail of ants on your kitchen floor but you can get rid of them without the use of harsh chemical pesticides. One of the best natural pest controls for ants is a simple spray bottle full of soapy water. Ants also have an aversion to certain spices such as mint, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. If you soak some paper in these herbs and put it where the ants usually enter your house it should be enough to deter them. Other natural pest controls for ants include lemon or citrus oil, cucumber, coffee grounds and vinegar. Of course you should also make a point of ensuring that there are no crumbs or open food sources in your home because these are an incentive for ants.

Contemptible Cockroaches

Cockroaches are perhaps the most revolting of all household pests. There is something particularly creepy about the way they move from A to B. Like ants, cockroaches are tempted by crumbs or packages of food that have not been properly sealed. Therefore it is important to store food correctly and clean up as you go. There are also many natural pest controls for cockroaches. For instance cat nip does no harm to humans or pets but cockroaches hate the stuff. They despise soapy water, bay leaves and cucumber slices too. Some people combine baking soda with sugar in the endeavor to get rid of cockroaches. Cockroaches love sugar but baking soda upsets their stomachs and eventually kills them.

When getting started with composting, one of the first decisions that will need to be made is what type of compost bin you will use. There are many different types of compost bins that you can choose from, based upon your preferences, the amount of space you have available for composting and your budget.

The main element that all compost bins have in common is that they must be able to hold heat in order to allow the materials to compost properly. Compost bins are simply working like ovens. Remenber that compost bins not only need to hold its heat, but also retain moisture. While it is quite possible to compost using a pile rather than a compost bin, the advantage to using a compost pin is that they make everything look nice and neat. In addition, compost bins can help to contain the odors that are sometimes associated with composting.

The biggest mistake I see beginners to do is to put a wooden fence as a sidewall for your compost. The problem with this is that the process of active composting will eventually decompose the structure in addition to discoloring paint and destroying wood that has not been treated. As a result, you should use only compost bins that are made from plastic, metal or cedar. This will help to prevent decay and rust from occurring. I recommed cedar woods all the time because it is resistant to decay forming.

You will need to choose from an enclosed compost bin or an open sided compost bin. The advantage to enclosed compost bins is that they do tend to hold moisture as well as heat better than open sided compost bins. The disadvantage is that they are also generally smaller. Enclosed compost bins decompose the materials much faster, because they tend to hold moisture and therefore heat better. Open sided compost bins are larger and hold more material but because they operate slower, they may not compost as much material over time as an enclosed compost bin.

The size of your space may also dictate which type of compost bin you choose. Enclosed compost bins tend to work better in small yards while open sided compost bins would not work so well in smaller and more urban sites.

the flower

A flower garden is a place of serenity where you can just get away from it all in your own backyard. There's nothing comparable to breathing in the soft fragrances of rose, jasmine and hyacinth, with the sun and wind working together to spread warmth onto your face. Blue skies and the soft rustle of leaves in the trees can bring a little bit of comfort and paradise to your life. Imagine, then, a splash of color catches your eye: a beautiful, dainty butterfly has found its way into your floral arrangement! This unexpected, yet pleasant surprise can become a daily occurrence if you plan and plant the flower varieties just right.

The flower varieties you choose will make a big difference. Planting larger groups of flowers will help butterflies notice them. Many gardeners start with a purple or bicolor butterfly bush and surround it with perennials. Consider the purple coneflower, black-eyed Susan, Brazilian verbena, daylily, catmint, lavender, phlox, goldenrod, ironweed plant, aster and sedum. Annual favorites for a butterfly-magnet flower garden include zinnias, marigolds, cosmos, sweet alyssum, cleome and lantana. These are the beauties of your garden, but you'll need to also be considerate of your larvae hosts. They like to snack on parsley, dill, bronze fennel, milk weed and nettle.

Once the flowers for your plant habitat are in place, take other environmental factors into consideration. Your precious butterflies want a floral wonderland, but also a place that is safe from wind, rain and predators, so try adding hedges and small, dense shrubs like honeysuckle or butterfly bushes; trellises or fences covered in passion vines or hops. Generous brush piles of bark, logs, rocks and leaves allow for hiding during winter months or stormy days. Even "organic" pesticides agitate the sensitive butterfly, so keep your guests protected from any chemical sprays or dust. Be sure your butterfly habitat has at least six hours of full sunshine, with flat rocks where they can bask in the sun to warm up before taking their early morning flights. Just like humans, bachelor butterflies also want a place to drink after work: mud puddles, shallow pans of damp sand and gravel or wet dirt all make ideal gathering spots. Rotting fruit, watermelon rinds and seeds are delicious nutrients that create a true butterfly nirvana.

Once you have the flower arrangement to entice butterflies, you may want to jumpstart the process by purchasing a few butterfly kits with live caterpillars. At www.butterfly-gifts.com/live-butterfly-kits.html, you can find painted ladies. At www.wardsci.com you can buy packages of swallowtails, sulphurs and fritillaries. Live monarch and swallowtail kits can be found at www.swallowtailfarms.com as well. In some cases, you may need a USDA permit to order in bulk. Fertile fall is a good time to begin planting your flower garden in anticipation for a lovely spring and summer.

Carpet Cleaning Business - Always In Demand

So, you’ve decided to open your own carpet cleaning business. Think about it, nobody likes to have a stained carpet. They have carpet in their home and they want it to continue to look nice for as long as they own their home. Most people can go out and buy carpet cleaning solutions but these aren’t guaranteed on every type of stain and they’re not very practical for an entire carpet cleaning treatment. They can also rent carpet cleaning machines for the big jobs. However, these machines aren’t as powerful as professional carpet cleaners have. That’s why a carpet cleaning business will always be needed as long as people use carpeting to cover their floors.

A carpet cleaning business can be a very fulfilling job. You get to see the inside of many people’s homes. Their homes are, essentially, your office. No two days are ever the same. A carpet cleaning business is ideal for those people who like change in their daily activities. You are essentially improving the look of their home and this alone can be fulfilling to a lot of people. If nothing else, you are helping people and what can be better than that? A carpet cleaning business has, when compared to most other businesses, has very little overhead and that makes it a great option for starting your own business.

What Services Are You Going To Offer?

A carpet cleaning business needs to decide what types of carpet cleaning services to provide of if they want to incorporate as many different types as they can. For instance, is the carpet cleaning business going to offer steam cleaning, chemical dry cleaning, both or more? The more methods you offer, the more expensive your venture will be because you’ll have to buy more products in order to take care of many clients’ needs.

To start a carpet cleaning business, you’ll need the right equipment. You can find pretty much anything you want over the internet. The great thing about having a carpet cleaning business is that your services are always in demand. You never know when someone is going to have important company over and they want to have their carpet looking like new. A bland looking carpet can make even the most decorated home look mediocre. For this reason, someone will always seek the help of a carpet cleaning business. Good luck with your business and get ready for a very non monotonous, fulfilling job.

All major carpet manufacturers agree that “hot water extraction (steam cleaning), with maximum moisture and residue removal” is the right way to care for their
tex
tiles.

Cleaning equipment with underpowered vacuum systems, and method that attempt to absorb it all with a cloth or pad, undoubtedly will leave soils and pollutants beyond the surface of your carpet.  Many chemicals and machinery can loosen soils and stains.A spinning cloth, or brush can not effectively remove all this liquefied soil, stains, pollutants, chemical residues and excess water from your fibers; the massive suction of a Vortex will.

What constitutes cleaning as actually effective is the amount of soils in reality removed; not just loosed or spread through your fiber.  The extreme suction produced by a truck-mount such as a Vortex system will actually remove these soils and stains. Whats actually gone can not reappear! This is why we chose to write about the “Worlds most powerful cleaning Machine”. After experiencing how clean it gets carpet and upholstery, it will be the only system you want to use too.

The vacuum blower of the Vortex moves more cubic feet of air and creates more pull than any.  It's like two or three of the best van-mounted cleaners put together.A true deep cleaning is accomplished when the effective cleaning agents are applied and flushed with the proper amount of steaming hot water, which is all extracted by this powerful suction.

Water that reaches boiling temperature aids in killing germs, viruses bacteria, insects and their larvae. The hotter temperature water used with Vortex cleaning makes it a healther clean than with other systems.   Another great factor is that the massive suction will extract this organic waste from your carpets, upholstery or even your mattress to leave your carpets truly clean and fresh - not just masked with a  fragrance.

See how this system compares to others at: http://www.vortexinfo.com

Most cleaning methods today can at least make the surface of a carpet temporarily appear clean. In order to get your carpets cleaned deeply and as thoroughly as possible, you have to use a system that uses hot water and powerful suction similar to that of the Vortex!

As of this point in time, there is not a more powerful system in production.Naturally, Given the same time and effort, no method or machinery can clean carpet, upholstery, tile and grout or mattresses as effectively.

You may be able to find a carpet cleaner using this system by searching the web for Vortex Big Truck carpet cleaners along with the name of your city, county or state.  If you happen to be anywhere close to the Washington DC Metro area, including parts of Maryland, the Fredericksburg Va area, including Northern Virginia contact http://www.superiorfabriccleaners.com to see if they service your location.

Knowing that your carpet is clean deep down will surely make the owner rest easy, and for a suitable company that can provide such clean carpets one need not look beyond Chem dry carpet cleaners. Unlike the run of the mill carpet cleaning companies that are found in abundance, Chem dry carpet cleaners don’t just clean the tips of the carpet nor pressure wash the dirt beneath the surface to temporarily make the carpet look clean. They in fact, actually promise to remove the dirt as well as other unhealthy elements that may be present in the carpet.

What to Look Forward To

Chem dry carpet cleaners promise drier, healthier clean carpets thanks to the millions of microscopic carbonating cleaning bubbles in their cleaner which they term as The Natural. These carbonating solutions can reach deep down to the base of the carpet and quite literally explode the dirt as well as grime off the surface of the carpet’s fiber. After that, Chem dry carpet cleaners use hot water extraction to pull out the dirty particles up to the surface from where they get whisked away and leave the carpet looking clean and new, once again. This principle is much like using club soda to remove stains from a shirt and has been perfected by Chem dry carpet cleaners.

Another major selling point which advantages using Chem dry carpet cleaning is that the carpets do not just get clean but also remain clean for longer. This may be attributed to the fact that the bubbles do the work and so obviates the need for using heavy concentrations of soapy cleaning chemicals and besides, soapy residues are like magnets – they attract dirt, rather than repel them and that would cause the carpet to become dirtier much quicker and the more cleaning that is required the more the problem gets exacerbated.

The primary cleaner used by Chem dry carpet cleaners do not contain soaps, detergents or surfactants and thus enables their customers to save money because the carpets stay cleaner longer and the fewer the cleanings required, the better value for the customer and one less worry for them, as well.

Sometimes a spot will reappear in the same place after cleaning and there are two reasons for this – they were not thoroughly cleaned to begin with and the process of cleaning that had been used simply pushed the dirt down below the carpet’s surface only for it to resurface as the carpet dries out later. However, with Chem dry carpet cleaners, who use the carbonated carpet cleaner, the stain would be thoroughly removed without further problems.

Gophers: What Are They?

Pocket gophers are rodents, medium to small in size, which burrow, spending 99% of their lifespan in underground tunnels and nests. Gophers have external fur-lined cheek pouches located on the outside of their mouths in which they store food which is brought to the nest in order to feed their young. There are many different species of pocket gophers in North America.  They are powerful diggers, have front paws with large claws which make them the enemy of many home owners with well manicured lawns. The pocket gopher is well suited for digging holes and tunnels because the generally live underground, and when over populated, pocket gophers become difficult to control.

Pocket gophers eat roots of grass, forbs, shrubs, and even someitmes small trees. They can be very destructive for forest plantations. In fact, each year the Forestry Service contracts pest control professionals to manage pocket gophers in order to safeguard new tree seedlings. These mamals are herbivores that love to eat all kinds of plants in yards, gardens and flowerbeds. The burrow systems gophers dig are multi-branched and individuals tend to be territorial. During studies in California, where radio collars were placed on gophers, some gophers were tracked moving 200-300 ft per night. Just one gopher might dig up to 250 mounds per year, moving almost 4 tons of soil within a few weeks. Burrows constalty change and evolve, with some tunnels sealed off and new ones created. How many feet of tunnels are created? No one can really say but gophers cause serious damage for property owners.

Pocket gophers work year round, during the winter, the summer, even during heavy snow fall. In alfalfa fields, gophers are often watched feeding above ground. Generally, gophers cruise along their tunnel systems and eat roots from plants growing  directly above the tunnels. An simple way to figure out if a pocket gopher occupies a tunnel system is to simply dig open the tunnel. If gophers are active then they will fill in that hole, in this case, you have gophers.

Gophers are one of the most difficult to manage in the U.S. EPA approved traps and baits are for the most part used to deal with gopher infestations and their impact on the environment. Some bait includes the following active ingredients: strychnine, diphacinone, chlorophacinone, and zinc phosphide. t. However, because of the length of the tunnel systems, such fumigants may not be very effective.

Nine out of ten persons will identify a tractor as an agricultural tool. However, the fact is that a tractor is called so because it has a high tractive power that enables it to pull heavy weights like heavy machinery and farm produce over long distances without any problems. Tractors are not intended to be fast machines. They are intended to be work horses that last for years together.

While purchasing a used automobile may not be a good idea, there is nothing wrong with purchasing a used tractor. These machines are made to last. Unless they are put to work in the most impossible conditions, even used machines will last for a long time. In the recessionary times that exist today, it is better to go in for a used tractor against a brand new one.

It is not very difficult to get a good bargain on a used tractor. You just need to know which factors to focus on.

A tractor is an automobile and you should never purchase an automobile without considering the total number of miles it has run. This gives you good idea about the condition of the engine. As long as the engine is in good condition, your investment shall not go waste. On the other hand, a tractor with a weak engine is of no use.

Next, you should determine the level of maintenance of the tractor. This is not very easy to determine. Good maintenance can undo the damage caused by a heavy workload while careless maintenance will reduce the value of a tractor that has not run many miles. Get your tractor examined by a good mechanic to determine whether it is maintained well or not.

farm tractors used for heavy duty task like hauling heavy equipment will not last as long as a tractor utilized for transporting produce to the market. Needless the say, the maintenance of the tractor also matters a lot. Whether you should opt for an ordinary or compact tractor depends on the nature of the task that the tractor is intended to perform.

Whether you intend to purchase a new tractor or a tractor that has been used before, always work towards securing maximum value for your money.

The Right Gardening Tools – A Guide

Whatever size your garden is, there's no doubt that gardening equipment can help make taking care of your garden much easier.  However there are so many tools you can buy that it becomes difficult to know which ones you really need, particularly if you're new to gardening.  It's simple to avoid the confusion by just buying the lot, but all that means is you'll be left with no money and a storage area full of tools you don't need.

So which tools are worth buying?  Gardening involves shifting dirt around, so a digging tool is always a wise choice.  If you're mainly working in pots or containers, then a sturdy trowel is a fabulous investment.  A shovel is better if you're going to be shifting large amounts of soil around, or to assist you with planting trees, vegetables and flowers.  It might be tempting to save yourself some effort by choosing a power tiller or plough, but unless you have a very large garden, they probably involve more expense and trouble than they're worth.

Another helpful tool to buy is a rake or hoe.  Again, if you're going to mainly be working in smaller areas, a pot-sized equivalent is a good idea.  These tools can be used to smooth soil and remove weeds.  You may prefer to do this by hand, but it's easier with the right tool, particularly in a large garden.

Although they're not technically a tool, good gardening gloves are also worthwhile.  It may be worth having a couple of pairs - some heavy duty ones for rough work, and some thinner ones when you need to feel what you're doing.

Once your garden is established, then at least one pruning tool is necessary.  Depending on the size of your plants, choose anything from pruners or secateurs through to large tree loppers.  It's worth spending a little extra to buy a solid, reliable pruning tool, otherwise it may be ruined the first time you try to cut anything with it.

A few more tools that you can probably survive without, but will make life easier depending on the style of your garden, include:

- Wheelbarrow
- Garden fork
- Watering can
- Hose & hose reel
- Rake

Of course, it's simple to choose cheap tools, but if you want to use your tools for a long time, consider buying good quality tools as an investment.  Cheap tools don't mostly work as well, and tend to be less sturdy and easier to wreck.  Happy gardening!

Necessity is the mother of invention. Carpets were invented in the sixties and became popular very quickly. Following this breakthrough, manufacturers needed to make something to clean the carpets and preserve their texture. Thus, there came the invention of the first vacuum cleaner.

In today’s world, with the rise of pollution, dirt and grime has also become more sticky and difficult to get rid off. People have started developing asthma and other allergies, all which demand the need of a cleaner, safer environment in the home. While regular vacuum cleaners are able to remove surface dust only, steam carpet cleaners go deep into the base of the carpet and the carpet fibers to eliminate dirt from the roots.

Features of Carpet Steam Cleaner

The steam vacuums work by injecting superheated steam onto the carpet. The high temperatures allow complete removal of the toughest stains, as well as kill all dust mites and other allergens. This way the carpet is sanitized to the maximum. The self contained carpet steam cleaners are the best combination as they have inbuilt vacuum cleaners which allow the surface dust to be removed as well as the debris from the base of the carpet.

Rotating brushes are also part of the machine, which make sure the steam reaches all parts of the carpet and any sticky dirt is removed completely. Mostly, hot water has to be added to the machine, but the newer models are being manufactured with their own water heaters which keep the water at the optimum temperature allowing maximum efficacy.

These steam cleaners are helpful in areas, apart from carpets as well. They can be used to clean all types of places, from cooker hoods to the inside of ovens.  Even tiling and toilet corners can be effectively disinfected using these steam cleaners. Along with domestic use, carpet steam cleaners have become the best tool for carpet cleaning, in various industries, like hospitals, restaurants, hair salons and even trains. The quick drying of these gadgets allows continuous use, making it practical and convenient for everyone.

Carpet steam cleaner is far more superior to vacuum cleaning, when it comes to efficacy. Nevertheless, it is a time consuming activity and certain carpets with delicate threads may get damaged permanently. Keeping these facts in mind, we can come to the conclusion, that steam cleaning is a must for every household, at least once a year, while carpets should be cleaned with a regular vacuum at least once a week.

Plumeria – Keeping Them Healthy

Caring for Plumeria Trees are very easy. That is one of the reasons Plumeria are so popular. Besides water and some fertilizer once a month, Plumeria require little care. Every now and then you need to give your plant an overhaul to keep it thriving and healthy. Below are some tips on how to keep you Plumeia plant thriving year after year.

Repotting: After the first year or two, that 4-6 inch pot your Plumeria plants started in will be too small to sustain vigorous growth. A 10-inch or even larger pot will sustain your plumeria for the next few years. Choose a good commercial potting soil and mix in a good drainage material like Perlite or sand. Add a little extra organic matter as well. Teas Plumeria Mix or Teas Rose Bed Mix make this very easy for you. You can also mix your own by combining 30% Perlite, 35% soil and 35% sand. Mix in a little Osmocote 14-14-14 pellets or other time-release fertilizer if you wish. Remember to provide fresh soil every year. Replant your plumeria so the stem is at the same level as before. Sometimes you can skip the repotting and just top up your soil. To do this, remove some of the soil off the top of the pot and add fresh mix. You can alternate this with repotting. Pruning the fine roots each spring is beneficial to the plant. The fine roots from the year before will die during the winter. These old roots take a long time to decompose, and may clog your pot. If you prune the roots, you can put fresh soil around the larger roots for several years, keeping the same pot. Just fill the space the old fine roots took up with fresh soil.

Winter protection - Plumeria should be brought in after temperatures begin to fall into the 40's(F). Water them before bringing them inside. YOU SHOULD NOT NEED TO WATER THEM VERY MUCH, IF AT ALL, FOR THE WINTER. Store the plants in a s bright a light as possible. Although they will survive dark cool storage for the winter they will bloom better with a growing season that is extended with bright light and warmth. They will be straighter and more compact with bright light through the winter. Greenhouse conditions would be ideal, keeping the plants close to 70 degrees F. If necessary they can be stored inside by removing them from their pots, shaking loose the soil and storing them in warm attics or closets for the winter. You can remove the leaves, but if you do, give them an extra day or so for the latex to dry before packing them away. After the warm weather has started in the spring, take them out and trim the roots and repot or even plant them in the ground. You can plant them in pots and submerge the pot partially or fully in the ground, making removal in fall easier and promoting good growth in the warm weather. Use Superthrive to help get them going and remember to shade them from intense sun for two weeks when bring them out for the spring/summer.

Pruning: You can prune plumeria at any time using a sharp knife. Be sure to cut at an angle so the cut won't hold any moisture. The plant will bleed latex sap, but it will stop in a day or so. If you dip the cut briefly in water, it can help it stop flowing. If you think the plant is getting too tall, prune it so the blooms will be at a better height. Your plumeria will just grow more branches and bloom even more. You may notice that some cuttings bloom before they even grow leaves.

Cuttings: Cuttings for propagation should be at least a foot in length. Allow them to dry in a ventilated area for up to a week or longer as needed. Use Superthrive to water the cuttings once they are potted, but make sure they are kept on the dry side and are protected from direct sun. Make a three inch hole in the soil to plant the cutting in. Roots will develop from the bottom, so don't plant it too deeply. It will take about a month for your cutting to root. If you can provide a warm environment or bottom heat, it will root better. Choose a pot that is 4-6 inches wide and deep. If they are kept too moist or don’t have enough light, the cuttings may begin to rot.

Growing Plumeria from Seed: Plumeria can be grown easily from seed, but the seedlings will not remain true to their variety. All named varieties are grown from cuttings from plants with excellent characteristics. If you want to grow your own seed, just let the pods develop and ripen over several months. The seed is explosive, so you may want to tie a paper bag around it to catch all the seed. Each pod holds about 100 seeds. Plant the seeds in a 3-4 inch tray with bottom heat. Use a soil-less mix such as Pro-Mix as the growing medium. Plant the seeds about ¼ inch deep. Tamp them down firmly and water them gently. You'll be amazed at how quickly they sprout. Don't overwater or your seedlings will damp-off. When they have grown at least two true leaves, transplant them to small pots. They will grow quickly and will bloom in about the same amount of time it takes a cutting to bloom.

Learning how to compost is not at all difficult, but can certainly provide you with many benefits. That is why so many people around the country are choosing to make their own compost.

The first thing that you will need in order to learn how to compost is a compost bin. There are many options available to you. You either wbuy compost bin from store or choose to build one yourself. Now, if you have enough space on your garden, you really do not need to have compost bin. You can make a compost pile. If pests prove to be a problem then try enclosing your compost pile with some wire mesh or fencing.

Once you have your composting area or bin set up then the next step in learning how to compost is to begin adding in waste materials. Different types of waste can be mixed to compost. Anything like old vegetables, fruits, food scraps, coffee and more, can be placed to your compost. You can also include organic waste materials from nature, like leaves or old grass, straws etc... Most people do recommend that you avoid placing meat scraps into your compost pile because it can take longer for the meat to decompose and as a result this leads to particularly bad smell.

One key to making good compost is to make sure that you keep a good balance of the materials that you do use. This will help to ensure that the compost reaches the right temperature and decomposes properly. Many people find when learning how to compost that layering green waste with kitchen waste works quite well and produces efficient compost.

And make sure you are turning your compost on a regular basis. If you have the ability to use compost tumler, just put everything inside and crank the compost bin. If you have some other type of compost bin or a compost pile then you will likely need to use a pitch fork to turn your compost. Now this single step is very crucial when creating your compost, so do not skip it.

As you can see, learning how to make compost is not difficult and does not require any particular skills. In couple months you will have great, nutrtious, rich compost you can begin to add to your gardening efforts.

Getting Started with Bonsai Gardening

Bonsai trees might appear to be an unchanging work of art, however, they require much time and effort to produce. Bonsai gardening is an art that has existed for many centuries. It started in Asia but has now established itself firmly in western society.

For those who are just beginning the art of growing bonsai trees, it's important that they gain some knowledge before they begin to cultivate a bonsai tree.A great deal of time and effort is required to grow a bonsai tree.

The first, and probably the most important thing of all, is to ensure that you have fertile soil and the correct pots in which to successfully grow a bonsai tree.Making the right species selection is something else that you need to be fully aware of before you head out to purchase your bonsai. Some bonsai trees are easier to cultivate than others. Your best move is to select a tree that is hardy and requires the least amount of maintenance.

Japanese Snowdrop is often recommended for the beginner. This is a hardy tree which can be grown in an outdoor environment in full sun. Its care is quite simple if you water it well and make certain that its root system doesn't ever become entirely dry. This bonsai tree will require annual pruning in addition to careful observation of the roots.

The Japanese Pagoda tree is another bonsai that's easy to cultivate for novices. It's comparatively simple to grow and also blossoms attractively when in season. The Japanese Pagoda will appreciate full sun with some partial shade. It does not like to be too hot or too dry, so it is important to keep the roots damp most of the time.

It should always be remembered that not all varieties of bonsai have the same needs for water and sun exposure. Therefore, it is critical that you are knowledgeable of your plant's specific requirements in order to grow it successfully. Some trees need to be repotted regularly at least every one to three years. This aids in preserving the roots and preventing pests and other menaces from harming their root system.

Training your bonsai tree means that the branches and twigs need to be wired and kept in place with some special branch benders. A great deal of time, effort, and patience is required in the process of bonsai care, but the end result will be a beautiful bonsai tree.

When a person decides to begin growing their own plants, they have made a decision which will help them enjoy some of the best variety of plants in their own home. There is a strong sense of accomplishment and fulfillment achieved from growing your own garden, whether the product is vegetables for your table or flowers to brighten your home. But several methods exist for the cultivation of these plants. One of the best involves using LED grow lights.

HID lighting is traditionally employed to assist in plant growth. There are many examples of this high-intensity discharge lighting to be seen in common usage, because it's the kind of lighting employed in stadiums, parking lots, and other large areas. It has long been used for indoor gardening as it can give a large display of light to the plants one is trying to grow.

This is not the best way to proceed, however. There are a large number of wavelengths shown over the light range, and they are not all useful to plants. Actually, of the whole range of light emitted by an HID light source, a mere 35% or so is beneficial to the plant. The other 65% of the energy is wasted, causing increased energy use.

LED grow lights are produced in a way that allows them to run on substantially less energy. LEDs will last seven years if used an average of eighteen hours each day. HID light bulbs must be changed much more often. On top of this, LED lighting will only give light which is useful to the plant, saving a consumer from spending money on wasted light.

Other areas will be saved when LED lighting is used over another source. Some sort of system for cooling down will be needed to prevent overheating and even fire, because other forms of light, when used for indoor growing, produce a lot of heat. LED lighting does not produce this heat, though, giving no need for an expensive cooling system.

Owing to the fact that they can be positioned in nearly any required direction, these lights enjoy a very broad range of accessibility. One could arrange their plants with ease, setting them up to receive the optimal light that they need. In addition to saving a lot of money over time, LED grow panels can produce some of the finest plants you could hope for with your indoor gardening.

Improving Your Garden by Building a Fountain

A great way to spice up your garden landscape is to add a water feature. These can be both soothing and aesthetically appealing. I've found that there are nothing more relaxing than sitting on a bench next to my garden and listening to my fountain while I read a good book or do some studying. Putting in a water feature is very easy and relatively inexpensive, and
will add immensely to the pleasantness of your garden. Also, the maintenance level is minimal.

Normally, people install fountains for the benefit of the natural ambience it provides. For some reason, being around a gorgeous scene of water gives you a positive energy. This is also good if you practice Tai Chi or some form of yoga or meditation. The constant drone of the water is exactly what most people need to concentrate on what they are doing. Even if
you're not into that kind of stuff, just being in a garden with a fountain has a sort of meditative quality to it, even if you're not trying to do so. I recommend it to everyone.

When you first decide to put in a fountain, you need to put great care into picking out one that will go well with the rest of your garden. If you have any other decorations, you want to consider if it goes well with your motif. Does the fountain you're considering stand out in your garden like a sore thumb, or does it look like it was meant to be there? If you're like me, you can't naturally tell whether the fountain will be a good addition to your garden just by looking at it. So my solution was to bring my sister (a natural at fashion design and that kind of stuff) along with a picture of my garden to the store. I was able to get her expert opinion, as well as see for myself what it would look like. By doing this I was able to pick a beautiful rock fountain that goes marvelously with the rest of my garden.

However, I still had a slight problem with supplying my fountain with power. You see, my garden isn not very close to my house. I thought it would look pretty tacky to run an extension cord across my yard, so I must come up with another solution. I discussed my situation with a Home Depot employee, and he quickly found me the exact solution I needed: an
extension cord meant for being buried! All it took was a few hours of digging a small trench across my backyard, and I had power to my fountain without an unsightly cord running across my yard. After I got over this little hitch, my fountain plan went beautifully.

So if you're looking for a way to make your garden a more classy and beautiful space to be, I hope you consider installing a fountain. The whole process is surprisingly cheap, and I think that you will be very happy with the results. Having the fountain in your garden is not only
soothing, but it also adds a lot of character to an otherwise bland garden. Remember, gardens are not just for giving us vegetables! A garden is a place to go when you want to retreat from the outside world and dwell in your own thoughts with no disturbance.

Picking a Healthy Plant

Should I start seeds (cheaper) or buy plants (more reliable) greets the gardener at the beginning. Both have their own benefits. If you plant seeds and care for them every day, you will find it is a much more rewarding experience when you have a full, healthy plant. Of course, this method is more open to failure. I can’t tell you how many seeds I’ve planted and never seen any trace of whatsoever.

If you choose to buy the plant from a nursery and install it in your garden, it reduces a lot of the work involved in making it healthy. However, I have found in the past that many incompetent nursery workers will absolutely ruin the future of the plant by putting certain chemicals or fertilizers in. I have overcome this lack of knowledge by just picking the healthiest plant. Here I will discuss some of the techniques I use in my screening process for plants.

It may sound superficial, but the one thing you need to check for on your prospective plants is how nice they look. As far as plants go, you can truly judge a book by its cover. If a plant has been treated healthily and has no diseases or pests, you can almost always tell by how nice it looks. A plant showing signs of insect infestation (i.e) eaten leaves or a less than a crisp stem.

If you’re browsing the nursery shelves looking for your dream plant, you want to exclude anything that currently has flowers. Plants are less traumatized by the transplant if they do not currently have any flowers. choose the plant with unopened buds. However if all you have to choose from are flowering plants, then you should do the unthinkable and sever all of them. You will find it to be a useful investment for your plant's health. Transplanting a plant while in bloom is a sure death sentence.

Before spending money, always check the roots. Of course, the root condition will be evident by the overall look of your plant. But if the roots are just slightly out of shape, then you probably won’t be able to tell just by looking at it. Check the roots carefully for signs of brownness or softness. The roots should always be a firm, perfectly well formed infrastructure that holds all the soil together. One can easily tell if the roots are before or past their prime, depending on the root to soil ratio. If there are a ridiculous amount of roots with little soil, or a bunch of soil with few roots, you should not buy that plant.

If you find any abnormalities with the plant, whether it be the shape of the roots or any irregular features with the leaves, you should ask the nursery employees. While usually these things can be the sign of an unhealthy plant, occasionally there will be a logical explanation for it. Always give the nursery a chance before writing them off as horrendous. Of course, they are professionally trained in the growing of plants.

So if you decide to take the easy route and get a plant from a nursery, you just have to remember that the health of the plants has been left up to someone you don’t know. They normally do a good job, but you should run your own checks. Also take every precaution you can to avoid transplant shock in the plant (when it has trouble adjusting to its new location, and therefore has health problems in the future). Usually the process goes smoothly, but you can never be too sure.

The size of the garden is also very important for obtaining the best gardening tools for your garden.  It is best to measure the area where the tool will be used so that you know how much you will need to use the tool to complete the entire area.  Purchasing gardening tools for a smaller area than you actually have means the work of creating your garden will be much more labor intensive and will make the area look bad if you don't complete the work properly. In general, going to the market and purchasing more tools will finish the project.

If you are anything like me, you're favorite part of gardening is when you actually begin to harvest some of your vegetables. This is the absolute BEST part of having your own garden. It feels like quite an accomplishment to make a side dish or meal knowing that you used foods from your own garden. On top of being way less expensive, fresh vegetables straight out of the garden taste much better than foods from the grocery store.

I'd like to share with you another fabulous use of your garden vegetables that is often overlooked. What do you do if you have a monster tomato plant and you have 30-40 tomatoes all ripen at the same time? What about when you have 10 giant cucumbers sitting in your fridge waiting to be eaten and you can't stomach the idea of another cucumber sandwich? Or way too many bush bean plants all ready to harvest simultaneously because you didn't realize you should stagger the planting times? I have the answer ... BUILD UP YOUR FOOD STORAGE!

Garden vegetables are some of the easiest things to bottle, freeze, dry, etc. Last year I canned pickles, fresh salsa, and whole tomatoes. I froze bags of peas and beans. My mom recently passed on her food dehydrator to me so I'm excited to learn how to use that method of preservation now too. If you are working on building any type of long term food storage program, these home-grown items will be invaluable to you. They are organic, preserved fresh from your garden, have no mysterious things added to them, they retain their nutrients better than store-bought items, and the best part is they are FREE! How can you beat that?

So if you are looking to build up some food storage, consider taking your excess garden vegetables and preserve them using some of these methods. And maybe, just maybe, next year you will find yourself planting extras of certain items so that you can have enough to stock up your food storage shelves even more!
